Landscapes Digital Photography - Before You Make Any Journey
I really don't think there is any other photography subject that rewards effort as much as landscape does. To take landscape pictures that are really great following the nightingale goes to sleep, you need to be up before the rooster as well as dwelling. Sometimes you need to walk all day and it is often too hot or too cold. In the light of this, I reckon that your comfort is as important as your photographic eye and technique.
You can't - or at least I can not - take great picture if you are hot, cold, or tired. I can not walk if my feet are sore or if I am fed up with having a sunburnt neck. There are some basic steps you can take to ensure your comfort level is as high as possible even though you can't control the weather. You will be free to shoot masterpieces once all your personal needs are cared for. The following list features some of the points that I believe are vital for practically any landscape photography excursion:

Put on a top that's a collar.
Consistently carry a hat: these are vital in both hot and cold climates.
Wear great hiking boots that are waterproof with thick socks.
Take energy bars to eat.
Carry a water bottle that is full.
When it's sunny don't' forget your sunblock.
Take a torch in case you get lost and you also have to seek out your way in the dark.
A space blanket is useful in the event you need to keep warm, and it folds down to a size that is rather small.
Take a mobile phone in case of emergency, battery full charge.
If you're driving recall to milestone your car: park it near a vast tree or stone, for example - it's more easy to get lost than you may believe.
A compass will help also (but don't leave it in the car!)
