Landscapes Digital Photography - Prior To Any Travel
I do not believe there's any other photography topic that rewards attempt as much as landscape does. To take landscape images that are extremely good after the nightingale goes to sleep, you need to be up before the rooster and home. Sometimes you need to walk all day and it's also frequently too cold or too hot. In the light of this, I reckon your comfort is as important as technique and your photographic eye.
You can not - or at least I can't - if you are weary, hot, or cold, take good picture. I can't walk if my feet are raw or if I am fed up with having a sunburnt neck. There are some basic steps you can take to ensure your comfort level is as high as possible, although you can not control the weather. Once all your personal needs are cared for, you will be free to shoot at masterpieces. This list features some of the points that I believe are crucial for any landscape photography excursion:

Put on a top that's a collar.
Consistently carry a hat: these are vital in both cold and hot climates.
Wear good waterproof hiking boots with thick socks.
Take energy bars to eat.
Carry a complete water bottle.
When it's sunny don't' forget your sunblock.
Take a torch in the event you get lost and you also have to find your way in the dark.
A space blanket is useful in the event you have to keep warm, and it folds down to a tiny size.
Take a cell phone battery full charge, in case of emergency.
If you're driving remember to landmark your car: park it near a vast tree or rock, for example - it is more easy to get lost than you may think.
A compass will help too (however do not leave it in the car!)
