Landscapes Pictures - Just Before Any Excursion
I don't believe there's any other photography topic that rewards attempt as much as landscape does. To shoot extremely great landscape pictures you must be up before the rooster and home after the nightingale goes to sleep. Sometimes you need to walk and it's often too cold or too hot. In the light of this, I reckon your comfort is as significant as your photographic eye and technique.
You can't - or at least I can not - take great picture if you are hot, cold, or weary. I can't walk if my feet are raw or if I 'm fed up with having a sunburnt neck. There are some basic steps you can take to ensure your comfort level is as high as possible although you can not control the weather. You will be free to shoot masterpieces once your personal needs have all been cared for. The following list contains some of the points whom I think are crucial for practically any landscape photography excursion:

Put on a shirt that's a collar.
Always take a hat: these are vital in both cold and hot climates.
Wear good waterproof hiking boots with thick socks.
Take energy bars to eat.
Carry a water bottle that is full.
When it's sunny don't' forget your sunblock.
Require a torch in the event you get lost and you have to seek out your way in the dark.
A space blanket is useful should you have to keep warm, and it folds down to a rather small size.
Take a cell phone battery full charge, in case of crisis.
If you're driving recall to watershed your car: park it near a vast tree or rock, for example - it's easier to get lost than you may believe.
A compass will help also (but don't leave it in the car!)
