Photo Hints About Colored Photo Filters Which Will Take Your Landscape Photography To Another Level!

Today's photo tricks are about colored photo filters that you need to have in your camera bag at all times. And how to avoid losing them! Adding colored photo filters to your armory that is shooting is a good strategy to get drastically better landscape photography!

Photo suggestion #1 - What's a great way to put away your photo filters so that they're readily available?

They take up lots of room in your camera bag should you keep them inside their own original packaging. Room which could be better put to utilize for extra batteries, memory sticks (film?) and so on. Plus, with them all jammed into a side pocket, you can not really tell what the filter is unless you take them all outside.

That's not much of an issue until the day you forget to put them back. It might cost you quite a lot of cash - and save the following photographer that shoots from that location a bundle.

Here's what you do... purchase a zip shut CD/DVD case. Link it to your camera bag, and you'll never lose it.

The filters will fit in the plastic CD/DVD slots and by just flipping through the pages, you can see the filters and pick out the one you want to use! My case has really been storing my filters for a long time and is made by Case Logic. In the event that you need one, they make camera cases also.

Photo Hint #2 - Coloured Filters. Purchase them and do not buy them.

The very next time you are viewing television - or go to the films, detect the colours on the display. Especially pay attention to when the scene is designed to depict dusk or dawn. Often, the colors you see are not natural and were inserted by colored filters.

You can't notice the filter effect, if done properly; the scene is merely accepted by you as being shot at that time of day.

Occasionally, the director lets not and the colored filters become evident seamlessly blend in and may want something edgy.

As I write this, there is a show on television called 'CSI - Miami!' Have a look at that one if you want to view a blatant utilization of colored filters. In fact they use them too much, in my opinion, and it detracts from the show.

But on the other hand, they're making the big bucks and I'm not, so my opinion is most likely wrong.

In our photography, a general color wash like that's easily executed with one or two clicks in Photoshop.

Plus, you've got more control over the amount of colour saturation and so on... so I advise you to save your money and not purchase solid color filters.

What I advocate is the fact that you get a few of typically the most popular split filters. At least get some tobacco ones and some pink ones. You can later decide on densities as well as other colors.

A split filter is one that's coloured in the top and clear in the bottom. The dividing line could be sharp, or a slow fade. (I recommend a slow fade.)

This really is used to color the sky without impacting the ground. The effect is more natural looking than a solid color wash - while at exactly the same time it's more difficult and time consuming to reproduce in Photoshop. Especially with a slow fade.

It's worth spending a couple of dollars and having them in your armory.

Adding colored photo filters to your shooting will take your landscape photography to a brand new level and provide it that 'WOW' factor. This photo suggestion help you start winning photo contests and can set you apart from the gang.
