Landscapes Digital Photography - Before You Make Any Trip
I actually don't believe there is any other photography topic that rewards effort as much as landscape does. To take really great landscape images following the nightingale goes to sleep, you must be up before the rooster as well as house. There are times that you need to walk and it is generally too cold or too hot. In the light of this, I reckon that your comfort is as important as technique and your photographic eye.
You can not - or at least I can't - take good picture if you're exhausted, hot, or cold. I can't walk if I 'm fed up with having a sunburnt neck or if my feet are raw. There are some basic steps you can take to ensure your comfort level is as high as possible although you can't control the weather. You will be free to shoot masterpieces once your personal needs have all been cared for. The following list includes a number of the points that I believe are essential for practically any landscape photography excursion:

Wear a top that's a collar.
Always take a hat: these are essential in both cold and hot climates.
Wear good waterproof hiking boots with thick socks.
Take energy bars to eat.
Carry a complete water bottle.
If it's sunny do not' forget your sunblock.
Require a torch in case you get lost and you also must seek out your way in the dark.
A space blanket is useful if you must stay warm, and it folds down to a rather small size.
Take a mobile phone in the event of crisis, battery full charge.
If you're driving recall to milestone your car: park it near a huge tree or rock, for example - it is easier to get lost than you may think.
A compass will help too (but don't leave it in the auto!)
