Landscapes Photography - Before Making Any Journey
I do not believe there is any other photography topic that rewards effort as much as landscape does. To take really good landscape graphics you have to be up before the rooster as well as house after the nightingale goes to sleep. There are times that you need to walk all day and it's also often too cold or too hot. In the light of this, I reckon your comfort is as important as your photographic eye and technique.
You can't - or at least I can't - take great picture if you are hot, cold, or tired. I can't walk if I am fed up with having a sunburnt neck or if my feet are sore. Although you can not control the weather, there are some basic steps you can take to ensure your comfort level is as high as possible. You'll be free to shoot masterpieces once all your personal needs are cared for. The following list comprises a number of the points that I think are essential for practically any landscape photography excursion:

Wear a top that has a collar.
Always carry a hat: these are essential in both hot and cold climates.
Wear good waterproof hiking boots with thick socks.
Take energy bars to eat.
Carry a complete water bottle.
If it's bright don't' forget your sunblock.
Take a torch in the event you get lost and you have to seek out your way in the dark.
A space blanket is useful should you need to keep warm, and it folds down to a very small size.
Take a cell phone in case of crisis, battery full charge.
If you are driving recall to landmark your car: park it near a huge tree or rock, for example - it's easier to get lost than you might believe.
A compass will help too (but don't leave it in the auto!)
